Clinical Molecular Technologist II


Q-State is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Molecular Technologist II to support our clinical molecular laboratory. Our proprietary platform incorporates an unparalleled suite of technologies and capabilities that power our science, and one of them is clinical genetic sequencing and analysis through the CLIA-certified laboratory. The technologist will work closely with the Q-State’s Genomic and Clinical Solutions team and will report to the Manager of Clinical Operations.


The technologist will be involved in clinical testing from accessioning to completion of wet lab processes, perform analytical and technical duties in the clinical molecular laboratory as outlined below:

  • Perform complex molecular-based procedures with a high degree of quality and in accordance with established protocols
  • Analyze and interpret patient test results
  • Alert technical supervisor or lab manager immediately to any concerns/questions regarding sample and assay quality or integrity
  • May perform nucleic acid extractions according to detailed standard operating procedures
  • Maintain complete documentation (recording of lot numbers, equipment logs, spreadsheets, training, competency, etc.)
  • Perform procedures and other tasks within the expected timeframes for completion
  • Take initiative to make SOP revisions and to create SOP’s when required
  • Assist with general laboratory support including supply inventory, cleaning, calibrating, maintaining, ad monitoring equipment
  • Participate in the training of other technologists and ensure proper documentation of the training is obtained
  • Mentor junior technologists and technicians by providing constructive feedback and ensuring the Best Lab Practices are always followed
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • May perform competency assessments at the discretion of the technical supervisor or laboratory manager
  • Take on independent projects and tasks beyond routine work


  • BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Technology, or other related science field
  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience, two of these years must be in molecular genetics
  • Must meet CLIA and NYS personnel standards criteria
  • ASCP certification in Molecular Biology is preferred
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity
